Front Entry with Transom
At 15 1/2 feet tall and 11 1/2 feet wide, this front entry with transom is one of the bigger doors we have done. The door pivots on a pintle hinge and is, as we like to say of our creations, a functioning work of art! It was made entirely of salvaged barn wood. The design of the door and transom has several layers, including pieces that continue through the transom and sidelights. It features a multi-layered hand-rubbed patina reminiscent of aged mesquite.
Click on the additional photos to see the before photo of the door location, an initial drawing highlighting different layers, the door in progress in the wood and finish shops, the completed door and transom on our loading dock, as well as pictures of the pintle or pivot hinge in action.
